May Outtakes

It's hard to believe that the final day of May is here. Seriously, where did the time  go?! Aside from the torrential downpours (are we finally done with those yet?), I really enjoyed it! My dad came to visit, and we had a great time! dré did some traveling, too, and took a trip to Victoria.

We had a fun time trying new concepts with makeup and hair. As well as working with nature (cherry blossoms!), and happening upon items buried deep in our closets and falling in love all over again.

Above are some pics that didn't make the blog, until now. We thought it'd be fun to share them with you! Their related posted are in order below. Feel free to revisit these posts (and all of May's fun spring looks!) for style inspiration, and leave us a comment as to which look strikes your fancy.

Thanks for reading! We'll see you in June!

Jump

TGIF! I can't wait for this weekend! I hope the weather is as gorgeous for everyone where they are as it is for me here!

Today's look is so comfortable without being boring. This strapless jumper has lightweight fabric, perfect for the warmer weather, while this sweater is a must for the cooler mornings or stores with the A/C blasted a bit too high. My fedora and accessories give just the right flare plus this hat shades my peepers from the sun. What do you think?

Potomac

I bid farewell to my dad today. We spent an awesome week together, just two displaced Washingtonians touring around in the nation's capital! From the monuments on the National Mall to the Holocaust Memorial Museum, and a boat ride into Old Town Alexandria and back-- we were soakin' it up.

When we weren't playing tourist, we visited with family, watched movies, and enjoyed some much needed R&R. Overall, our Memorial Weekend was full of appreciation and love.

My look for our trip into Old Town's harbor was very simple: lightweight tweed shorts with a long tank. My accessories included gothic length cross earrings, multiple rings, my go-to cat-eye sunglasses, and a watch. A fun bag and metallic sandals finished off the look.

Great memories on the famous Potomac River!

Watch This

I'm not a big watch wearer. The last watch I wore was a gift and I only wore it because its chain link design allowed me to use it as a bracelet. In all honesty, even though I admire the look a nice watch adds to an outfit, I haven't thought about buying a watch for myself in years. Until now.

I visited one of my favorite Old Town Alexandria boutiques, 3 Sisters, and there this beauty was. Perhaps it was the resemblance of a spring favorite--seersucker, or the contrast to the chevron print overhaul, but I couldn't pass it up! I gotta say, I've been using it more for the look than anything, but in the age of the smart phone, I can't be the only one, right?

Quick tip: As watch batteries tend not to last with me, I pull the pin to stop the clock from running. Whether or not you experience the same frequent battery failure as I do, I recommend doing this to allow an extended life period for your battery!

Bonjour

This last weekend I went to Victoria, B.C. with my family to see my inlaws. It's always such an enjoyable and relaxing getaway. One of my husband and my favorite things to indulge in there, is poutine. For those that are unfamiliar with it, poutine is a French Canadian dish consisting of french fries, topped with cheese curds, and warm gravy. When done right, it's to die for!

The chilly climate and the cuisine was a perfect occasion to wear my Bonjour sweater. I even wore my new prescription glasses that I think made me very geek chic..oui?!

Greenery

Tis the season for picnics and laughs! I hope you are enjoying your long weekend with family and friends—new and old. I've added a touch of sweet green to my wardrobe and purple to my lids. I think it compliments the green leaves, yellow sun, and tastes of the grill quite nicely, don't you?

The Long Version

It's Saturday and that means something in DC -- brunch!
Surely the masses will be out as the high for the day is upper 70s. Since Georgetown will be swarmed by tourists, I'm going to enjoy my dad's company over a tasty meal elsewhere! Here are some of my fav spots if you're looking to enjoy brunch today, or in the near future:
Town Hall, Ted's Bulletin, Montmarte, and more!

Be sure to step out in trend! I have been absolutely loving my long cardigans from H&M. Whether it's been cool, hot, or windy, the lightweight fabric has been perfectly versatile. Check out my outfit break down for inspiration on your brunch look today!

Oh! We want to hear from you! Where in your city do you love to brunch?

Chevron

I'm sooo happy to be spending time with my dad this weekend. He traveled across the country to spend some quality time, and in turn has basically been taking care of me. Unfortunately, I've been struggling with an illness, and although I know it's only temporary, it's been affecting my dress code and general way of life! Today, though, I put on this bright chevron print dress to embrace the 80+ degree weather for a little fun around my (new) city. Its bright colors almost match the brightness my dad brings to my spirit. Almost... (:

Pink

It's amazing what treasures you'll find when you're cleaning out your closet. I've been weeding out my wardrobe the past couple weeks, and as I was hucking and chucking, I stumbled upon this wrap that's (get ready for it!) 12 years old!  Its yards of fabric allow you to wear it many differnt ways. Here I chose to wear it as a backless halter dress.

It also put me in the mood to wear all pink everything...from my lips to my toes! With a look so sweet, I decided to wear my hair sleek. Remember how I wore this same hair style with a tougher look? Well, as promised, this is a perfect way to rock the same style with a completely different outfit. What do you think?

Can't Get Enough

So, I know you've seen these heels before. The truth is, I can't get enough. If an opportunity presents itself, you best believe, I'm slappin' these babies on! Every time I see their gorgeous shade of highlighter yellow, I get really excited!

For this ootd, I wanted my accessories to really pop (as if they don't enough already), so I went for all black in my clothing. Watch out! My heels and bag might blind you when I stroll by! Do you love this hue as much as I do?
