Shopkick

I must start by asking forgiveness. Forgiveness for withholding.

I little over a year ago, my only Aunt, who is obviously fabulous (remember the DVF dress she gave me?), told me about a shopping app called Shopkick. This app basically gives you free money. Seriously! My dad and I both downloaded it, but my dad was more of an avid user of it. When I found out he got $150 in Macy's gift cards and didn't spend a dime, I knew I had to get on it!

All you do is download the app and create a profile. The rest is cake. Every time you enter select stores, open the app and wait for the magical bling sound. When that happens, you just earned kicks, AKA points. Once you have earned 2500 kicks you have enough for different gift cards. You can save your points as long as you want, and there are several different things you can cash your kicks in for. Scanning certain products in the store can also rack up kicks. And if you choose to do any shopping through the app, that will get you major kicks!

So there you have it. I've shared the wealth with you! Download the app for yourself here and get those kicks comin'!

Rosy-Go-Round

Walking out of Targét under 30 minutes for under 100 bucks should be a reality show. It's nearly impossible with all the obstacles of distractions, the tug-o-war decisions: "do I need it?/I don't need it./Should I buy it just in case?", and of course immunity tokens–aka sales–that allow you to play longer.

Take this e.l.f. lipstick for example. I've never purchased a lipstick from this brand and saw that it was on super sale ($2.10), so I decided to go for it. Because I was so curious about this product, I tested it almost immediately once I got home. Here's my take on e.l.f.'s Moisturizing lipstick in Rosy-Go-Round:

- It's super moisturizing
- Applies like a tinted lip balm, but stronger in pigment
- Lighter in weight and color density than a regular lipstick
- Not long-lasting (one swipe with a tissue and it came right off, no staining)

Overall, I found it to be a product in-between tinted lip balm and lipstick. I added a lip liner to round out the look. What do you think?

Sweater Dress

Good morning! I hope everyone's week is going fabulous! I received some fantastic news yesterday and I'm so excited to share it in the near future!

About today's look, I cannot begin to tell you how much I've loved this dress this winter! It's comfortable and perfect for layering! It's warm but not too much. It pairs perfectly with tights and boots, and for warmer days like it was here, you can just take the tights away and slip on some heels. On top of everything else, it has a beautiful neutral tone to it, that makes it easy to mix and match accessories and coats with it. Like it?

Mani Monday | Lemon Shark

We've mentioned before that updating your manicure is a an easy and inexpensive way to give yourself a pick-me-up. So, I've taken our advice, added one of the most happy colors, and violà. What do you think? This color by Sally Hansen is part of the Triple Shine collection. Because I add a top coat, I can't really confirm the "shine". I have discovered that it's best to add a base coat before applying for a more even application layer. You will also need to add about 3 layers.

Inspired

It is a winter wonderland outside! I've enjoyed watching it from inside as I cherish the company of my girlfriends. Every month we get together to collaborate, motivate and, of course, inspire. We connect over our multiracial heritage, careers in independent education, and our love for expressing our creative outlets!

For brunch, I wore this tassled cardigan from Urban Outfitters. I love the print and color palette. Especially because it goes so well with black! (Smile.)

Heartstrings

Leighton walked out on stage–mug in hand–wearing a very simple, laid back look. She's as sweet in real life as she was feisty on Gossip Girl. And her music...j'adore. Last night was the first stop on the Heartstrings tour, Leighton's first headlining show. She sang, played guitar, and kept up good humor even when the crowd showered her with "I love you!" and "What was it like kissing Ed Westwick?" remarks. Though she didn't play any of her earlier music, she did do a cover of No Doubt's "Say That You Love Me" as well as a Loretta Lynn number. I love when she sings country so I was super happy about that!

I definitely recommend checking her tour out if it stops near you. And, of course, grab her album! In addition to spending time with my good friend, I also liked that Leighton's opener was a local musician. Owen Danoff is a great lyricist and easy going guy himself. All in all, sweet night of music!

The Birchmere didn't allow photography so I wasn't able to snap any pics. Still, I've shared the look she was wearing and how you can purchase each piece to get your own laid back concert look!

Leighton wore an open denim shirt. Find this one here.
A simple tank worked well with. Try this one.
Dark denim? A girl after my own heart, I'd say! Try these.

Starting the tour in suede comfort. This works!

What's your favorite track on 'Heartstrings'?

Five And One Half

Last week I got to have a little celebration with my baby girl. It was her half birthday. ( Yes, we celebrate half birthdays at our house :)) We had cupcakes, Italian sodas, and she got some new play-doh. It's good to be five and a half!
