MOTD

The snow is coming...

Pity. It's no longer the 68 degrees that I enjoyed yesterday (no coat! say what?!). For my makeup of the day, I kept it soft and accented my cheeks. If it was warmer I might've been inspired to add a pop of color. I'm happy about the final product. What do you think?

Enjoy your Sunday!

Rooftops And Banana Fields

My father-in-law's rooftop was the perfect place for me to soak up some sun while enjoying some reading. Just check out the view of the ocean and jungle! When I was finished, it was off for a frolic in the banana fields! What a beautiful place!

π = 3.14

Happy π Day, Everyone!

Although my OOTD isn't all that irrational (unless you consider having legs for days. wink, wink.), I still thought it would be fun to shout out this "holiday". How are you celebrating Pi Day?

Just remember, you can have fun today, but....

To find out more about "Pi Day", or just get a good laugh, read The Wheelhouse article here!

Have an irrational day!

Trafalgar Falls

While in Roseau for Carnival, we spent a day visiting Trafalgar Falls, where I got to experience natural sulphur pools for the first time. They were odor free and so fulfilling, after a week and a half of cold showers ( not by choice! )!! I wish I was there now...hummmm.....

Portsmouth

Portsmouth is the second largest town in Dominica, but it was my favorite. It had the perfect amount of buzz and chill all at the same time.

This wooden bench is the bus stop (and by bus i mean 15 passenger van, that packed at times up to 20! ) from which we caught all of our rides to other locations ( when we weren't riding in the bed of my father-in-law's truck! Oh and don't worry....there's no seatbelt law!).

While in Portsmouth, I did a little shopping in the boutique-style shops, and scored a fab pair of yellow shorts that I wore to Carnival! Don't worry! I'll show you later;)

I got pretty excited to see a salon as I walked the streets! Not quite the 5 star experience that I'm used to working in, but so fun to see these ladies doing their thang!

Our adventure concluded at Purple Turtle Beach. Talk about a good time! Reggae music playing, a little bar on the beach, a covering to protect my shopping finds, and family!

Birthday By The Sea

I just got back from a two week trip to Dominica. I couldn't have imagined what I was going to experience while there!

Last week was my birthday, and it just so happened to be at the tail end of Carnival. Since we were already in Roseau, the capital of the country, my hubby and kids spent one last day there to celebrate me:)  We had Chinese food, ice cream, took a walk along the waterfront, got sang to from some island men, and of course did a little shopping!

Check back later for more adventures from my trip!

Georgetown

Cities that hold their historical image offer so much inspiration. The light can hit in such a way that a new story is revealed--  even within the 5 minutes you may have popped into a shop (or in my case Baked & Wired for a Chocolate Doom cupcake).

For this look, I did soft contouring for my makeup and a winged eyeliner. Under this gorgeous red are mixed prints and textures. I wanted to show you how easy it is to create a new look with some of your staple pieces. (This skirt was the best $7 I spent in NYC's H&M.) Finally, I added one of my go-to clutches to polish off the look.

The visuals in my section of the city are so exuberant. Stay tuned for what I'll be inspired to do next! Oh, and if you're in town, let's grab a coffee from Baked & Wired!

Clutch Moments

You know how it is when you're running out of the door for a girls' night out or date night with your boo, and you need to swap out your workday tote for a small, chic clutch. Sometimes this seemingly simple task can be a nightmare. That's why I recommend always having a go-to prepared. One you know you can fit your gloss, keys, i.d., cash, cards, and don't forget...your phone!

This clutch let's me carry all of these necessities without distorting its structure. Don't worry! I've found some options for you so that you can have a smooth transition and fashionably fun night out, too! Check here, here, and here for great options at a great price.

Have a beautiful Saturday (and night)!

The Butterfly Effect

Flocks of photogs, fashion bloggers, and design enthusiasts crowded the streets and stages of Paris Fashion Week. The grand gesture of Fall/Winter 2014 Ready-to-Wear collections wrapped this week, but there are collections that will leave us breathless through summer. One of those collections is from Zuhair Murad.

Murad released a beautifully crafted collection inspired from the butterfly. Notice the lines and the delicate detailing. His intense study of these Lepidoptera is apparent in the slim bodice, pronounced flare, and darting patterns. Only the finest detail encompasses the design-- Zuhair Murad's signature touch. A vision of feminine elegance that women have been thirsty for season after season.

With the weather as it is, it's perfect timing for Zuhair Murad's Fall 2014 RTW collection. Get lost in the butterfly effect, even if it's only in a daydream...
