Flashy

Happy hump day! I hope your week has been treating you well! Keep holding on and staying strong...Friday will be here before you know it ;)

Over this last weekend, I got to spend some quality time with my mom, including running our first ever Color Run. It was such a blast! Included with our swag bag of race day gear was a flash tattoo reading 'HAPPY'. If you've ever worn a flash tattoo before, you know that they last for a while. I was pretty excited to mark myself with it for race day, knowing it would last me through part of the week.

The look that I'm wearing today, really accents my tattoo. Adding this gold collar necklace really makes the gold pop to me. The turban I'm wearing, I purchased at Topshop during my birthday weekend in NYC. I can't get enough of it! I can't wait to pair it with a bikini in Hawaii! What do you think of this look?

Beauty & Essex

Our weekend in NYC was a whirlwind. You already know. I think that's the best part of our friendship. Even though our lives are crazy busy, we always have time for each other.

Scraping by after 2 nights in a row of 3 hours of sleep, we knew we had to get full on glam to survive the evening before us. Upon a friend's recommendation, we made an appearance at Beauty & Essex. After being ushered in, we made our way up the winding staircase to where it was going down. It was completely packed, but we were clearly dressed to impress, for once we had grabbed our drinks, we were offered V.I.P. seating. No complaints here!

The majority of the evening we were our own entertainment as we were becoming delirious with exhaustion. din even claimed that she aided in a nearby couples' soon-to-be-someday "happily ever after". I guess we shall see!

Before heading out, we decided to dance to just one song. I mean, what's a birthday celebration without a dance?! To my surprise, din requested the DJ play 50 Cent "In Da Club". Next thing I know, both she and the DJ are smiling as din starts singing "Go shawty, it's yo birthday!" What followed next was an entire playlist of hits from our highschool years. We clearly weren't the only 30 somethings there because everyone was feelin' the music!

Thanks for making my birthday weekend perfect din! I wouldn't have had it any other way...well...maybe just a bit more sleep!

Top Notch

As din already told you, our NYC trip started off in our typical style of struggles and lateness, but that didn't stop us from painting the town red!

After catching up face to face over a tasty drink at Pegu, we braved the 18° weather while waiting for a cab to take us back to our hotel. By the time our heads hit the pillow, it was 6am. All I can say is, thank goodness for under eye concealer, because 30 has been hitting me hard!

eShakti - My Custom Item & Coupon Code

In September, eShakti reached out to us for a collaboration. I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to be able to sample and review a line of clothing.

My initial feeling of the clothing on the site was "boring". My personal style definitely has more edge and excitement than the majority of the items there were to choose from. However after a bit of perusing, I was able to find a few things that caught my eye. I finally decided this houndstooth coat was what I needed. I have nothing like it, so I knew it would be something fun to add to my wardrobe.

One thing that I love about their site is that each item is made to custom order. So no matter your size, or how short or tall you are, they will make the garment to fit you. And I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the quality felt.

I sadly haven't been able to wear my coat too much since I've received it, but with the little I have worn it, I've gotten compliments. I'm extremely happy with this piece and would love to work with eShakti again!

Cut My Hair Don't Care

7 years ago, I cut my hair crazy short. Since then, it's not only grown past my bra strap again, but it's also been dark brown, blonde, brown,  blonde, light brown, platinum blonde, blue, gray, dark brown, ombré, purple, blonde, blonder, pink, red violet, and FINALLY chocolate brown!! In that order! Content with my color (for the moment), but sick of the length of my hair, I yet again was in need of a change!

Monday night I could not take it anymore, so I combed my hair around to the front and clippered it off. It was liberating! However, it did need to be doctored up and given a little TLC by my mama. She was teaching out of town, but the moment she got home, I was at her door step waiting to be saved!

I'm all ready for spring and summer with my fresh cut, dress, and booties! I'm loving my new hair! What do you think? I think mama did good ;)
