Watermelon

If I were to say that summer had an official fruit, it would have to be watermelon! They are super tasty and of course so good for you!

I've been dying to give myself a watermelon manicure for some time, so I decided to do it the other night. I think they turned out so fun! Then while browsing on Pinterest, I saw these fun watermelon shorts. I'm totally going to attemp to DIY some of my own, and I'll let you know how it goes!

How to achieve dré's mani:
Start with a base color of OPI's Suzi's Hungary Again. After that dries a bit, polish just the tips of your nails with Venique's Give A Girl A Heel Breaker. Then using a toothpick, dab "seeds" on the melon with OPI's 4 In The Morning. Allow to set for 15 min and then finish with a top coat. Voilà!

The Prismatic World Tour

Finally! I got to see my fav pop star in concert! Still to this day my heart hurts that I missed the California Dreams tour (tickets were sold out!). I wasn't about to repeat that missed opportunity, so when I learned of the ticket release date for The Prismatic World Tour best believe I marked my calendar! After purchasing tickets in January, Tuesday, June 24 couldn't come soon enough. The wait seemed so long, that all of a sudden it snuck up on me! I came home from work, threw on a roar-worthy outfit (prismatic eyes, regal fleur d'lis, king/queen? cat image), and called an Uber (thanks, Everton!) and was there in a flash! This is how we do!

Let me tell you, Katy is a hard-workin' woman! The visual affects, dancing (her dancers are ahmazing!), and interaction with the crowd was awesome. Although I enjoy pop music, most of the concerts I attend are smaller, more intimate. So the magnitude of this production was completely on another level. It's absolutely apparent that when Katy tells interviewers that she's the captain of her ship, she means it. She was "on" on Tuesday, and I'm sure last night's performance in DC was no different.

At her concert, you'll find emojis, a crazy cool music video that is reminiscent of MJ and Janet's Scream, but ends in an epic paint battle (see link below), and crazy cat-lady fashion. Let's not forget her openers Ferras (sang, brotha!) and Capital Cities ("Safe and Sound") who rocked the house. Oh, and PrismVision courtesy of Cover Girl made the light spectrum even more appealing.

Katy is a beautiful girl, and when she stepped out in custom Valentino my jaw hit the floor. Absolutely stunning! (If I were to own that dress, I think it's accurate to say I would wear it at least twice a week.) She wore it to sing a few songs, first of which is one of my favorites off the album, By the Grace of God.

All in all, Katy pulled off a magical night for a sold out crowd at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. I am so grateful that I was able to attend and rock out with my fav! As you can see, I didn't take many pics/they're so blurry. I'm an in-the-moment person, so only a few times did I whip out my iPhone. Since I was close to the stage, I preferred to see her outside the lens. Besides, I can always relive the moments via Instagram, right?

Did you attend the concert? Do you plan to? Whether you're a #katycat or not,
I want to hear about it in the comments below!

Rustic Chic

This past weekend I traveled to West Coxsackie, NY to celebrate the marriage of my two friends. We stayed in this rustic chic house that was hidden away in a beautiful and peaceful green landscape. Even the pond in the back was serene. No one took a dip, though, as a few snakes, bass, and a large turtle inhabited it. Faire attention!

Overall, it was a wonderful weekend spent with new friends and old. We played lots of games, shared many laughs, and seldom rested. Everyone's kindness was appreciated. I don't think I could have asked for better company!

A Little Darker

I'm in Seattle this weekend for the Rock'n'Roll half marathon! I'm just about to head over to the expo and register. Wish me luck!

Now about my hair. I decided to take my color a little darker and I styled it nice and chic today. Like it?

Silky Smooth

With summer upon us, more skin is exposed. Shorts, skirts, tanks, bikinis...you get the picture. Nothing is worse than rough, dry, stubbly skin, especially when it's exposed! Fear not lovlies! I've found the perfect duo for silky smooth skin!!

First, you will need this sugar scrub by Tree Hut. This is the BEST exfoliator that I have ever come across! While in the shower, scoop the scrub up with your fingers as needed, and rub in circular motions over your entire body. Once you're exfoliated and rinsed off, you're skin will be primed to be shaved.

There is a new shave cream I found by Skintimate that is a lotion shave cream, rather than a foam or gel. After using this for the first time, I will never go back to traditional shave cream again! If you use this for shaving after you have exfoliated, your skin will be irresistible! Promise!!

Now, all you budget babes, listen up! Would you believe me if I told you I found the sugar scrub at Albertsons of all places?! It's true! Not only is it the best scrub I've found, but it's beyond affordable too. And I hope it goes without saying, that the shave cream is far from draining one's wallet.

So what are you waiting for? I beg you to go give this a try and tell me what you think! I'll go ahead and say 'You're welcome!' in advance ;-)

[ Nail File: ] The Glam Factor

Summer doesn't mean we need to be married to brights. I glam'd up a minimalist look with a little glitter! Pirouette My Whistle is a light glitter polish which adds just a touch of flirt to a soft base tone. What do you think?

Feathers

I really love feathers. I'm not completely sure what my draw is to them, other than the fact that I always wanted to fly as a child.

If you like feathers too, or just want to wear them on occasion, take a look at some of my favorite feather items I have. I even branded myself with one! Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you may have!
