Anything But Cardio

Look what I found in Metairie! While I was on vacation in Louisiana about a month ago, I had to make a trip to the MAC counter. As I was passing through the mall, I was stopped in my tracks when I saw this shirt! Let's be honest, sometimes it takes a good 30 Day Challenge to get this girl a movin'!

As for the blossoms, it's time to say goodbye. (le sigh.)
At least this means sunny skies are on their way!

Enjoy your day!

Love Marks.

Aaaah. Sunshine, shades, and one of my favorite dresses from 3 Sisters.

For spring, it's time to bring out the bold patterns and bright colors. Lighter materials and softer textures will be the best compliment to the sun's kiss. And, if you live in an area full of rich history and beautiful sidewalk scenery like I do, a skirt with a little flirt is always a good choice.

Enjoy the sun!

Starburst

Hey Everyone! So this shoot was a little different, but so much fun. Chrystalain, my fab photog, wanted to try out new lighting and it resulted in photos that look a little Hollywood-esq. At least to us!

Another fun note about this look is the steal I found on this clutch! Never ever have I seen a black Hobo clutch at such a great price! (For a staple color, it's unheard of!) Also, the faux fur coat that you've seen me in before (here and here) was another great find-- it was free! It's definitely a vintage piece, but I don't have much information about it other than it's by a Sydney designer and the materials were made in England.

Are you wondering about my manicure? I've been over the accent nail for a while now, so it surprised me that I even thought of doing this at all. I just felt like I wanted one nail painted. Random! A few years ago, I remember a model having done this, so maybe the memory of that snuck back into my head.

Thanks so much for reading and checking out the blog. Be sure to leave your comments below. We love hearing from our readers!

Blending

Often times when the season teases a change, we pull out the new trends in anticipation that the.sun.will.stay. In this case: Spring.

Instead of breaking out all of your neons and pastels, try working a few pieces into your current wardrobe. That's what I did here with a brighter blue added to my skirt and boots look.

Fortunately, this look took me from day to night! I met up with some friends for Young the Giant concert at The Fillmore in Silver Spring. Check out some awesome photos from Reflection Photography below and here! They were fantastic and the opening band, Cayukas, wasn't too bad either (I especially liked their song, Hella. So west coast!)

Lost And Found

Have you ever had something that has "mysteriously" gone missing? I know I have, on more than one occasion! One of those items, for me, was a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses, that I bought over 4 years ago! I loved them, they treated me well, and then they vanished.

The Saturday after the Thanksgiving that we just had, while I was sitting at a red light, I got rear ended. My car is totaled, but my girls, who were in the car with me, and I am alright! As I cleaned my things out of the car, in preparation for it to be towed away, I was able to find a bit of joy in the wreckage! My shades! They had buried themselves deep underneath some other items that were in my side door.

In the midst of this holiday season, I am especially thankful for my family! I'm also grateful to be alive! You never know what day might be your last so make it count! My future is lookin' so bright right now, I'm glad I found my shades!!

Going Baroque for Must Have Fashion

Sometimes when there's a hot new trend,
you just have to step out
                                           boldly...

It may be some time before we're donning a complete wardrobe of Dolce & Gabbana, but that's where creative minds come out right. Hot off the runway? Not quite. Wearable, affordable, and hella cute? Triple check.

There's no need to go Baroque over this hot trend. Just take note of the exquisitely crafted embellishments and make it your own! Check out these finds:
