Gloomy Day

Today was a gloomy day. But I wasn't about to let all those clouds keep me down. In order to give my day a bit of excitement, I decided to dress with elements of flare.

Thick winged liner gave my eyes a little extra drama.

A braided top knot was fun alternative to a plain one.

**To achieve**
Place hair in high pony.
Separate your ponytail in 2 sections.
Braid each section of hair.
Wrap braids in opposite directions and secure with pins.

Your day can never be dull if you remind yourself that you're fierce!

Spring may not have been "showing", but I didn't let that stop me from flashing my bright floral print bralette! ( On clearance for $10 right now at Victoria's Secret!! )

Stay strong! Fight the gloom!

Love Marks.

Aaaah. Sunshine, shades, and one of my favorite dresses from 3 Sisters.

For spring, it's time to bring out the bold patterns and bright colors. Lighter materials and softer textures will be the best compliment to the sun's kiss. And, if you live in an area full of rich history and beautiful sidewalk scenery like I do, a skirt with a little flirt is always a good choice.

Enjoy the sun!

A Walk In The Park

With this glorious spring weather around me, I've been trying to take advantage of it by getting outside more. There's a beautiful park near my place that's perfect for walks.

Here, I went really comfy with my look by wearing relaxed fitting separates and throwing on some combat boots. What do you think?

Art Snob

Work and play often blend for me and Saturday night was no exception. The event was held at Blind Whino in SW DC. In it's former life, the building was a church. Now, it's covered in splashes of color, and decorated with local artists' work. A very fun venue to step in the name of love and be reminded that, baby, you're a firework.

Yes to the Dress

My good friend is getting married and she asked me to help give her style advice on gowns. So, a few girlfriends hopped in a car and headed to the Brides Against Breast Cancer event in Reston, VA. This organization does a dress tour across the nation to not only help raise money for those impacted by cancer, but also to help fit brides in their perfect dress.

In addition to eager brides, the venue had various vendors across the DC metropolitan area in attendance. Hear a bell ring? An angel got A bride chose her dress. Now, typically bridal expos are not my flavor, but I was happy to be of service to my friend.

Are you looking for a wedding dress? Planning to help a bride choose her dress? Here are some tips to keep in mind so that you, too, can say yes to the dress.

1) Go in knowing what you DON'T like. This will save time and heartache when your best friend from HS brings you a magenta gown decked out in multi-colored rhinestones.

2) Remember, it's about the bride. She is/You are not a doll for your shopping gals to play dress up! Suggestions are welcomed, but in the end let her choose.

3) Alterations are key! Clothing, including gowns, can be altered to fit you. Often we shop with the idea that each item should be "made for me". This is happenstance, not standard. If you find a dress that you love but the neckline is off, consider synching it. Your dress, your rules.

Of course my eye was drawn to the whimsical tulle gowns. Soo pretty! For my friend, however, we found styles that made her look stunning. (I won't post for fear her fiancé will take a peak!) All I can say is that she will definitely walk down the aisle to whispers of "What a beautiful bride!"

Have you been to a bridal expo before? Would you ever go? Tell us in the comments below!

Hair Rx

I'm guessing if you're a fashionista, you love Gossip Girl. If not, I recommend giving it a shot! I share a similar taste in style with Serena Van Der Woodsen (Blake Lively). One of her her hairstyles in a particular episode filled me with inspiration to mimic my own version of it. What do you think of my style? If you love it as much as I do, click on the link below for a how-to video. You'll have your own "Serena" hair in no time!

EOTD

Happy 8th day, Everyone! If you're like me, there are two things you don't leave the house without applying: mascara and lip balm. For this look, I built off of my go-to mascara by adding eyeliner. My mom always used liquid eyeliner, so it has also become my liner of choice.

I experimented with the popular winged liner by extending the liner on the bottom lid to a thinner line underneath the main wing. I've been stalking Instagram accounts where makeup artists such as the talented @makeupby_melissa post their EOTD (eye of the day). What do you think of the winged liner? This trend is definitely going to stick around for awhile!

What are two products you can't leave the house without applying?

Vancouver Fashion Week FW 2014

Two weeks ago I was up in Vancouver, B.C. for fashion week. This season I had the opportunity to walk for Goldie London again. I loved their Spring/Summer 2014 collection that I wore last season so much, I could hardly wait to slip into whatever they had for me this one.

This particular show was a bit of a monumental occasion for me. My husband, who has never seen me walk in any shows before, was not only there, but sitting in the front at the top of the runway. Talk about butterflies as a got ready to step onto the runway and saw my guy across the way! I felt like one special girl!

Enjoy the photos he took from his view, along with a video he shot of me walking up the runway!

Here is the video shot by Ben.

If you care to to see the entire show, watch here. To fast forward to my clip, I walk at 1:07:35.
