Last week, dré showed us a softer way to celebrate Valentine's Day, but this week I'm revvin' it up! A friend of mine had a hot pink color on that really caught my eye so when I walked by this bottle at the local CVS, I had to give it a try. As you've noticed, I'm an OPI girl, but I am happy to say that this polish is just as appealing on as it is in the bottle.

Goes on smooth, thick, and dries evenly. I don't need Cupid's arrow to fall in love with this one!

Two-Faced

I love a good duo. And this black and silver liquid sand polish by OPI had me so excited to try both colors, that decided to use them both in the same manicure! This fab set of polish even came with some glitzy hair ties...how fancy! What do you think of my two-faced mani?

For the most part, I'm an OPI kinda girl. It's the go-to, reliable brand for nail color both subtle and funky. Every once in awhile an Essie color catches my attention so I give it a shot. This time it's a bold orange color. One thing I have found in my personal experience with Essie is that it takes a lot of coats. Usually it's because of the consistency, but this time it was because of the dullness! After the first coat, it immediately started drying-- awesome! But it dried to a dull color-- not so awesome.

I added a second coat and it held some, but I took the photo before the dullness set in once again. Without a top coat, I would have been in trouble. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to the rescue! It added the intended shine, and I'm out the door in 5.

These two products are a pair. And I intend to wear them both several times this fall!

The Results Are In!

Exactly one week ago I decided to be a test subject for all of your convenience, to see if the new Vinylux polish by CND held up to its promises. Just as a refresher, in case you missed it, the polish claims to last 1 week without chipping.

I'm pleased to tell you that it's half true. I didn't bother photographing my left hand because it indeed is chip free! My right hand however  (which is my dominant hand ), does have a couple nicks. Below you can see the evidence.

My verdict: All in all it's a pretty amazing polish. If your nails tend to chip as easily as mine usually do, it definitely lasts longer than a day or two. For those whose nails don't chip much, my prediction is the polish would most definitely last one whole week for you....chip free!

Testing, Testing, 1 2 3

There is a brand new nail polish on the market by CND called Vinylux. Many of you may be familiar with Shellac, a gel polish that is made by the same company, which is only offered in salons. The Shellac manicure is supposed to last up to 4 weeks, but requires a UV light to set it. Vinylux claims to last for 1 week without the use of the UV light. There are specific nail colors the line has, which you are directed to apply 2 coats of, and then you finish it off with one coat of the Weekly Top Coat.

I'm extremely intrigued by this because I love having my nails polished, but between doing hair and doing dishes, my nails are usually chipping by day 2! So here I am testing it out for all of you and giving my honest feedback. In 1 week I will let everyone know if it lasted through the wears and tears of my daily lifestyle.

The colors I'm wearing are Lobster Roll and Lilac Longing.

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

I know that you're dying to know how I got this fabulous newsprint on my nails! Well I have great news! This is a DIY project that is SO easy!

1. Polish your nails with a light color of nail polish. ( I used OPI's Don't Touch My Tutu )

2. Allow the polish to dry completely.

3. Clip up pieces of newspaper, large enough to cover your entire nail.

4. Place one piece of newspaper per nail and then using a cotton ball saturated with rubbing alcohol, place it on top of the newspaper, making sure the alcohol completely seeps through. Once it's completely wet, peel the paper off.

5. Finish your manicure off with a top coat to seal everything in and give it a beautiful shine!

*Tip* if the newsprint transfers onto your skin, which it most likely will....once you have finished, take a Qtip, wet it with some water, and then carefully rub around your nail. It comes right off!

WARNING!! This manicure is sure to draw attention! Do not proceed unless your goal is to turn heads!
