[ Nail File: ] Orange You Glad There's a Disco?

First coat

Second coat

Third coat with Seche Vite

Essie | Saturday Disco Fever
Top Coat | Seche Vite Dry Fast

finale

For the most part, I'm an OPI kinda girl. It's the go-to, reliable brand for nail color both subtle and funky. Every once in awhile an Essie color catches my attention so I give it a shot. This time it's a bold orange color. One thing I have found in my personal experience with Essie is that it takes a lot of coats. Usually it's because of the consistency, but this time it was because of the dullness! After the first coat, it immediately started drying-- awesome! But it dried to a dull color-- not so awesome.

I added a second coat and it held some, but I took the photo before the dullness set in once again. Without a top coat, I would have been in trouble. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to the rescue! It added the intended shine, and I'm out the door in 5.

These two products are a pair. And I intend to wear them both several times this fall!

sweet | TART

Nail Polish | Tart Deco by Essie

That hard orange isn't going to cut it for me-- it's still Summer! So, I sweetened it up a bit with this bold, rich, and bright color. What do you think?

So SoHo

SoHo. Every fashionista has to visit SoHo if they're in NYC. The boutiques are plenty, as well as the street vendors, and it's such a hotspot for liveliness! Unfortunately our weather reporter(s) were wrong and we ended up in the rain the first part of the day-- brr!

First we stopped into Joe's Pizza for another slice of delicious. The gelato store next door was beckoning us, but we were too cold to consider it. Instead, we headed over to Georgetown Cupcakes. I'm pretty sure dré's mouth had been watering for a cupcake since the show aired on TLC. See how excited she is in the picture above? Tell me I'm wrong!

We then stopped into Stumptown Coffee. It's popular on the chill coast, but I didn't realize it was over here, too. Good stuff. And it allowed me to warm up after the rain settled.

In addition to indulging a sweet tooth, we also visited the ever popular DASH SoHo. It's very small and not as unique as we would have expected from the Kardashians.

Another boutique worth mentioning is Think Closet where dré got an awesome black leather wrap around belt. The sales associates were really sweet and I'm glad we stumbled upon it.

Matter of fact, there were some great sales associates in SoHo. They seemed to love what they do-- as a former sales associate myself, I know! One street vendor hand crafted a ring for me since dré got the last one. It's an infinity (pics to come!). Needless to say we're in love with them. Now, they're kinda like friendship rings-- remember those from back in the day?

After our shopping and taking in the sights in SoHo, we met up with some dear, dear friends of mine (and now fast friends of dré's because they share the same affinity for sugar!), Jesse and Cathy, in Little Italy for dinner.

As we were walking back to the car someone tried to get us to go to the "back closet" where all the "Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton" bags were-- non c'est bon!

Then, after dodging the illegals, wouldn't you know that we went back to Times Square for more shopping!? I'm sure you're not surprised. What may leave you surprised is that we shut down the 4 level Forever21-- at 2A!! It was a crazy, fun day that left us laughing AT ourselves. Although long, we did make it back to the apartment before 6A. (:        xo | din

Fiesta!

It's Cinco de Mayo and that means its time to get your party on! In staying true to all things fancy, I will be sipping on this bottle of strawberry tequila I found while I was in Mexico. Not only does it suit my sweet tooth, but it pairs perfectly with my polish color!

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone! Eat some bean dip for me;-)

[ Nail File: ] Turquoise & Caicos

turquoise & caicos by essie

Just a short bit ago, dré posted about the mint craze. I am definitely on board, but wanted to try something that was a notch up in the mint department to suite my complexion. From the same line, I'm wearing turquoise & caicos, and it looks great with my skin tone. Of course, I took the liberty of adding a little sparkle n' shine with OPI's Pirouette My Whistle.

Whether you're light and sweet or rich and turquoise, I think you'll agree with me when I say: I'd rather be in Caicos!

Sweet Mint

St. Patrick's Day may be behind us, but the green seen on that Irish day was only the beginning. Green is a major color trend this Spring/ Summer 2013. I personally cannot get enough of this sweet succulent mint!!

Love is in the air

I don't know about you, but I love the day of LOVE! All the red and pink you see everywhere you look, PLUS flowers AND chocolate...what's not to love??

Wanting to be festive for any occasion I can, Valentine's Day is definitely an opportunity I choose to spruce things up! Below is my polish choice for this day of romance,JAG-U-ARE, by Essie. I've also photographed the hot little number I'm hoping to turn my husband's head in by Free People.

And of course I have to keep you all updated on the hair I'm wearing! Although it was a blast, I was getting a bit bored with my purple ombré, so I decided to switch it up. They say blondes have more fun. I guess I shall find out tonight;-)
