Backstage @ Lili Ming & IMA | Vancouver Fashion Week

It's been a week since I finished walking for Vancouver fashion week, and I know there are people eager to see photos of what I did! Take a walk with me backstage at the shows for Lili Ming and IMA.

Below is a shot of my hair and makeup or Lili Ming. I loved this look! The hair was a soft undone French twist, and the lips were two toned. If you look closely you will see they are orange in the center and hot pink in the corners. I will definitely be stealing this for a makeup look I do in the future!

This collection showcased 5 collections within the collection, and sent over 80 pieces down the runway! I guess when someone tells them to get ready for a show, they don't play!  Below, you will see two of the three dresses I wore down the runway.

The second show I walked in this evening was for IMA. It was so crazy backstage, with a shortage of hair and makeup people, that my hair skills were put to the test! I did my own hair for the show! I thought the makeup was fun for this too. Very soft, with a bit mor drama around the eyes!

Theses lovely little ladies in the middle are the designers for this collection. The clothing is all yoga/athletic inspired, and all the models were loving how comfortable and adorable that each piece was! I defiantly plan on buying from them in the future!

Hair + Couture + A Lesson From The Godfather....Yes Please!

I recently was a hair model for Matrix, in a Seattle hair show. It truly was an incredible experience in every way! I got to hang out with a bunch of extremely talented stylists for 3 days and wear couture....now that's what I call a weekend!

Darci Brown hooked me up with my gorgeous new blonde color, and I was styled on stage by both Nicholas French and Daniel Roldan.

Nicholas French has been called "the godfather" of hairdressing. Now I see why! I wish I could sit at his feet for a year and just watch him, listen to him, and assist him with his wig styling! I definitely left feeling like a learned a history lesson and full of inspiration!

Then there is Daniel. What an amazing artist! He has a strong point of view, and full of creativity and talent! Though he is a bit more quiet, don't let him kid you! This guy has jokes, and he and Nicholas had me cracking up with their commentary!

Finally, feast your eyes upon my wardrobe! The blue lagoon of gorgeousness below is by Roberto Cavalli. Ummmm...let's just say I never wanted to take it off, and Nicholas is lucky that it made it back into his bag! The beautiful red gown that I wore for the V.I.P. event is by Angel Sanchez. How fun to be so fancy! I even got to rock porcupine quills in one of my updos!

[ Model Call ]

Hello to all my fashionistas! I'm heading out the door right now for a model call in Seattle, for a hair show for Matrix! I know you will all be waiting anxiously to see what my hair ends up looking like! As soon as that show ends I'll be heading up to Vancouver, B.C. for fashion week! Stay tuned for upcoming photos from both events, and behind the scenes!

Do you see my large black suitcase? That would be 12 pairs of shoes for my 9 day extravaganza! The sad part is, that was me trying to pack lightly! Ahh! What's a heel lover to do??

Behind The Scenes [ Kris Owens Benefit Fashion Show ]

The benefit fashion show, put on for Kris Owens, was a great success! I want to share some of the behind the scene photos you, as I know I promised for an update of the evening.

This beautiful model is Rashmi Joshi, and I had the pleasure of styling her hair for the show. The evening was full of me multitasking since I both styled hair, and walked the runway.

This look that Rashmi is modeling, consists of a dress by Kimmi Designs, and a headpiece by Boring Sidney Hats and Headdresses.

Here she wears a suit by Jersey Virago Designs.

All of this was made possible by the help of my crew from Gene Juarez! Yvey Valcin does his magic on this lovely model.

And finally, my friend, Rose Park, styled my hair! Let me tell you, she did such a stellar job, that I was able to rock the EXACT same hair the next day, with no touchups! Now that's talent!

Be on the lookout for my runway look all put together!

Kris Owens Fundraiser Benefit Fashion + Art Showcase

The time has come for me to walk! Though I walked in 3 shows just earlier this year for the UNCF fashion show, it feels like it's been far too long for me to hit the runway!

I'll be honest. I love the craziness, the hectic schedule, the artistic vibe surging through the room between hairstylists, makeup artists, and designers. And I can't fail to mention, I LOVE playing dress up!

So what could make this whole experience better than what it already is, then to make it benefit someone that's so deserving? By going to the Facebook event page for Kris Owens Fundraiser Benefit Fashion + Art Showcase, you can find out all the exciting details! I hope that everyone who is able to, can make it out for this great event!

This is one of my favorite looks I wore when I walked for Richard Blayne. I can't wait to see the fabulous ensemble I get to wear for this show!

Black Swan

I love mixing the "expected" with the "unexpected", and that's what I was really going for in my latest photo shoot.

I am ever inspired by ballet as I used to dance myself and find it so fluid and beautiful. This passion of mine had to be put into print and so it began.

The movie Black Swan was the perfect feeling for the direction I wanted my photos to go. It was such a dark movie with so much mystery, it would be the perfect piece of art left for each individuals interpretation. Now for the surprise factor...my five year old daughter Kiya! She is a little ballerina herself with a love for the camera. Although a child posing for something seeming so dark may be controversial for some, we really had a blast. We just told her to do whatever she felt and these are the results! We took care of the lighting to give it the effect I was going for and the rest of the magic was played out by my little star! There is nothing ugly about this little duckling:)
