Underneath It All

Yesterday I shared with you my fav winter coat, and this is what was going on underneath my massive parka! Strangely enough, the weather was very cooperative and pleasant earlier in the day. Then, by evening the winds picked up and the snow blew in! Did I mention I looooove my parka?!

Furr the Love of Tuesday

For the love of Tuesday! I finally have a moment to catch up on chores and errands. Here's what I'll be buzzing around in today. A sensible vest with my go-to Levi's (love that the pockets give my backside a little umph!), and a fall staple-- riding boots!

So what's left on the agenda? Laundry, a matinee, and class tonight!

Autumn

I'm not quite sure where the inspiration for this outfit came from, but once it was complete I had a lot of fun wearing it! It's so awesome how three pieces (dress + accessory + great shoes) is all it takes sometimes to create a jivin' look. I added a little lip color to bring definition to my face and violà!

Happy First Day of Autumn!

Statuesque

Two of my friends from WA are visiting so we took a couple hours to walk around the National Mall. Per usj, swarms of people were also out and about (some local, some tourist). Among the black, white, and concrete buildings, there stood this giant mass. This is how I captured it.

What are your favorite art sculptures in DC?

3, 8, and a Little Bit of Faith

I woke up this morning on a mission. I had a couple errands to run, then make my way over to DC Metro for The Dream Team conference. It wasn't until I got a text from a friend that I looked at the phone realizing today's date: 8.

Coffee in hand (my free 12th drink from Starbucks!), I couldn't help but smirk. 3 years. It's been 3 years since I hopped on a plane and made my venture to the East coast.

Of course it had been on my mind that this anniversary was coming up. I sincerely wasn't paying attention though. Nevertheless here it is. At times it has been bittersweet-- I miss my friends and the culture of Seattle (hi 12s!)!! Still, it has been rewarding and full of surprises. If you couldn't tell by now, I love a good adventure.

So cheers to 3 on this 8th day. I'm excited for what the Lord calls me to next!

Winter Hue

Often the mindset for winter wardrobe is to go dark. But a summer bird like myself, I often like to find ways to break the mold. This beautiful Tahari coat and a colorful bird patterned button-down blouse are great against the backdrop of the snow, don't you think?

What do you wear to break the mold?

Tight Fit

Even though I'm freezing, I'm sooo glad not to be in freezing weather. I saw pictures of Chicago yesterday where literally places were/are frozen shut! Absolutely love that city, but could never live there-- I couldn't survive!

I wanted to find a way to wear the winter tights look with my outfit, and still add a little dimension for that 'double-take' effect. So, I layered black textured tights with black over the knee socks, and wore tall boots. It's a really fun look! I think next time I'll play around and try contrasting colors-- say forest green tights and grey over the knee socks?

What do you think of my fit? What color combinations might you try?

[ The deCODE ] Boot Lovin'

Is it just me, or is it nearly impossible to exclude boots from the "It List"? Hmm...
Yup. Impossible. So, Boot Lover, let's bring up the heat with these   smashing finds!

Fergalicious 'Longshot', $79.95
Just go get these. Promise. I wore this style in faux calf-skin last year and received so many compliments. The heel is comfortable-- dare I say made for walkin'? -- and the shaft is fuller so comfortable for larger calves, but not too big for slimmer ones . Intrigued? Take a look at a couple more Fergalicious styles here and here.

Aldo 'Salvaza', $100
Hey, Stud. No one blames you for being a rock star in your black moto beauts. In fact, it's encouraged! It is rare that I like a boot with a buckle, and if you're the same you can still keep the cold out and the fashion up in these.

Sole Society 'Helena', $79.95
Weather or not, here she comes! Every skirt and skinny jean needs a bootie. It's like, the law. Don't get cited for non-compliance when you've got some fab choices here, here, and here!

Happy shopping!
