December Outtakes...Ciao 2014!

As the world focuses its eye and goals to 2015, I'm taking one more look back on our year of blogging. Take a journey with me as I revisit 8 of my favorite posts. (Of course there were so many that I loved, but considering the time it takes to get glittered up for NYE festivities, I narrowed!)

The year started off with a cover story featuring Joan Smalls. I was thrilled to feature Joan not only because she's gorgeous, but because of her resilience to rise to where she is today. Although Joan is no longer holding the #1 spot, she's still as present in the industry as ever. Read more.

Now, I can't talk about the #1 spot without mentioning the back-to-back NFC Champions! Earlier in the year we showed the 12th woman how to get game-ready, and then we cheered our Hawks to a Superbowl victory! Working in the nation's capital, I crave the west coast. So, if you're like me and missing home-field advantage, then revisit the post for style tips + music video to get you pumped.

If there's one thing you would have gathered this year, it's that we love the sun. Even home-field advantage couldn't tamper with our incessant craving for warm weather. Especially if that craving meant going all the way to Dominica to satisfy--which dré did in March! Read more.

That wasn't the only major move dré did this year. Can we talk about the many hair transformations? Just take a look at the chop that happened in May below. She straight up said, "Cut My Hair Don't Care", and it was one of the best looks all year! Revisit dré's hair journey here.

One thing that I loved this year was playing with light. If you look back through our posts, you can see how our various discoveries of radiance transformed our images and overall post themes. One of these was "Georgetown" (above). Rediscover this look in historic Georgetown here.

Speaking of light, I found it again in "Love, Now Trending". This look was created for my two friends' wedding reception in July. The theme was garden party, and I couldn't resist adding this flirty back-slit top to my ensemble. Love was definitely in the air; catch it again here.

Oh, and remember that time when dré made VOGUE.COM? Yah, that happened a few times this year, too. It was crazy and so much fun! Relive the backstage moments here.

And to round it out, one of my favorite reds of all-time was found this year! Such a classic that I hope OPI never lets it go! Although I'm not a soda drinker, I must say that sharing this beautiful lacquer with your bff is worth popping a bottle for! Cheers to my favorite red again here.

These were my favorite 8 of 2014. Now let's take a look at what your top 3* were this year:

1. Marita
2. Cut My Hair Don't Care
3. My Personal Canvas

September Outtakes

Is it really the end of September? It feels too early to be sharing our outtakes, but the calendar isn't lying (we double checked!). From back to school to fashion week, there was a lot to keep us busy. Take a look...

It's comforting to know that when times get hard, all it takes is a badass outfit and some glitter to turn things around. We're learning to become our own rock stars, our own motivators; because that's what it takes to move past set backs and disappointments to reach our goals.

September came through like a whirlwind. Even through our reluctance to Autumn (we love summer), we've been lucky to still have warm weather to help us cozy up to those fall vibes. That, and every fashionista's favorite... Fashion Week! The Spring 2015 collections in NY, Vancouver, and Milan thus far have been fun to follow. Crazy, though, how the rapidly growing Vancouver Fashion Week was stealing focus from the more renowned runways. What's more? All you codekeepers got a backstage pass. You can thank dré for that!

Now, here we are entering into October and looking forward to our layers and boots, as well as branding partnerships. (We're excited about this. More details to come!) So, you see, truly it's not where the sidewalk ends, but the effort to direct that next step toward a re-energized beginning. The leaves are turning, follow us as we begin anew.

Backstage @ Lili Ming & IMA | Vancouver Fashion Week

It's been a week since I finished walking for Vancouver fashion week, and I know there are people eager to see photos of what I did! Take a walk with me backstage at the shows for Lili Ming and IMA.

Below is a shot of my hair and makeup or Lili Ming. I loved this look! The hair was a soft undone French twist, and the lips were two toned. If you look closely you will see they are orange in the center and hot pink in the corners. I will definitely be stealing this for a makeup look I do in the future!

This collection showcased 5 collections within the collection, and sent over 80 pieces down the runway! I guess when someone tells them to get ready for a show, they don't play!  Below, you will see two of the three dresses I wore down the runway.

The second show I walked in this evening was for IMA. It was so crazy backstage, with a shortage of hair and makeup people, that my hair skills were put to the test! I did my own hair for the show! I thought the makeup was fun for this too. Very soft, with a bit mor drama around the eyes!

Theses lovely little ladies in the middle are the designers for this collection. The clothing is all yoga/athletic inspired, and all the models were loving how comfortable and adorable that each piece was! I defiantly plan on buying from them in the future!

Back Stage @ Sara Roka | Vancouver Fashion Week

They tell you it's the second biggest fashion show in North America. Well, it didn't hit me until I saw the runway.

I've always seen the runway of NYFW through photos and videos, and dreamed of sitting there alongside the likes of Anna Wintour as the world's best fashion walked by.

Even though I've walked the runway before, the rush I felt yesterday was amazing. The set up in Vancouver at the Chinese Cultural Center is so well done.

These are behind the scenes photos of the opening show, Sara Roka. You can see my final look coming down the runway here.

Now, I'm off to my next fitting! You've got the code to the backstage pass-- more to come!

XOXO dré
