eShakti + Me in NYC

I wore this look out with dré for our late night toast to 30 at Pegu Club. By now you know we've know each other since we were 5, but did you know that we talk for hours on the phone almost daily? We laugh about it when we realize it, but yah it's true.

So, when we meet it goes a little further than picking right up where we left off, because we just left off of an hour-plus long phone conversation! Nonetheless, hanging out in NYC for three days and two nights was definitely a fun change to carrying my iPhone around. More looks from our adventures coming soon. Stay tuned!

About This Look
code name: drédin partnered with eShakti for a personalized look to share with our readers. My final choice was this full-skirted black dress. It seemed fun and flirty, so why not?! I styled it with a button up, bowler hat, and low heeled pumps, and am happy about the final look.

On the real, the bodice of the dress isn't my favorite design nor fabric. It's a stiff cotton and, unfortunately, the button details on the back are not delicate enough to give a striking appeal. Although it's strapless, it's nice that it comes with attachable straps. One of my straps, however, needs to be sewn tight because the clasp doesn't hold. Truly, the skirt saves this piece!

My experience with eShakti has been varied. First and foremost, I'm excited they asked us to collaborate. The concept of custom orders is fantastic, and I'm glad we had the opportunity to share with you, our readers! Second, the available designs do not capture my style, so it was difficult to find an item. Third, ordering was a little tricky because customer service had a different idea about measuring than most. (For example, a skirt that showed to sit on the hip required my under bust measurement because apparently it fit empire. Hmmm.) Further, my first order arrived in the wrong size. Lastly, customer service was very present during the entire process and made every effort to get it right immediately.

Overall, I think that if you search the site and find items you truly like you should try it out. You could have an easy experience like dré had and be completely in love! What's more is that I have a coupon for you! Just enter the following at check out to get 10% off: "codedredin10". The code is valid from 3/20–4/20. That's a full month of multiple discounted purchases woot woot!

August Outtakes

There's always a space for an emoji! Read more.
Summer is a time to get out and explore, and the month of August was definitely full of that. As you've read, dré wasn't so much California Dreamin'...she was there soaking up the sun!

And, din moved from Georgetown in Washington, DC to a cute neighborhood in Arlington, VA. Taking a break from unpacking and organizing meant exploring the area. Besides, with new wheels...why not?!

Orange + fuchsia; two colors that compliment din's eyes. Read more.
We've said it before, and we'll keep saying it...we belong in California! Read more.

You know that wherever we went, we made a splash! Color, sparkle, and a couple fairytales for summer and fall kept us inspired this month.

That and Glitter Off polish and Oil Wonders products. Those alone are enough to get any fashionista out bed!

There are some "Last Chance" pieces that need to be stored after Labor Day, white isn't one of them. Read more.

dré's oldest turned 8! A #sweethuit it was-- read more.

We look forward to more adventures that encourage us to call and check in on our friends and family. We love adventure! Still, we know that no matter where we escape to (and how much fun we're having), there's no place that's quite like home.

A Fairytale for Fall

The only reason I would want to jump to Fall season is when I see collections like Alice + Olivia F2014RTW come down the runway. I can't wait to wear that is the thought that comes to mind. Then, the sun and warmth start breaking through the cold and the idea is pushed to the back of my mind until the weather cools.

I'm so inspired by this collection by Stacey Bendet who said, "The clothes are dark, sexy, and all tying back to a Victorian element." Color, sleek, feminine, rock-- it's all here. Bring it on Fall!

Here are some key pieces to build this inspired look:

1. Lace Body Suit
H&M | $24.95

2. Jumper

H&M | $59.95

5. Vintage Jewelry

The Long Version

It's Saturday and that means something in DC -- brunch!
Surely the masses will be out as the high for the day is upper 70s. Since Georgetown will be swarmed by tourists, I'm going to enjoy my dad's company over a tasty meal elsewhere! Here are some of my fav spots if you're looking to enjoy brunch today, or in the near future:
Town Hall, Ted's Bulletin, Montmarte, and more!

Be sure to step out in trend! I have been absolutely loving my long cardigans from H&M. Whether it's been cool, hot, or windy, the lightweight fabric has been perfectly versatile. Check out my outfit break down for inspiration on your brunch look today!

Oh! We want to hear from you! Where in your city do you love to brunch?

[ The "It List" ] Coat Edition

If you've been paying attention to Harper's Bazaar lately, or IT lists anywhere, then you know that fall's got certain trends that are stealing the spotlight. Below I've deCODEd the style "It List" from Harper's Bazaar. Use it as a guide for your fall season shopping.

The Peacoat

The queen bee nailed this look. Now, you can, too! Check out these penny saving options here and here. Super versatile, super buyer savvy.

The Camel Coat

The camel coat is classic. Ultra feminine and offers timeless appeal. Hey, that's good for the budget! These are some picks for you, pictured above, here, and here.

The Barbour Coat

Although the world's Princess made this look popular, I prefer a more modern silhouette. Try these options here, here, and here!

Remember, you don't have to be a royal to take part, nor do you have to spend royal cash!
