13 Going On 30

Well, this is officially my last day in my twenties. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. I kinda want to cry, throw up, and faint, all at the same time!

Nonetheless, there's nothing I can do to stop it, so I'm gonna put my brave face on and hold on for dear life!

This look is fun for me because I feel like I can now call it classic.

|Fun Fact| I have had this skirt since I was 13 years old! I remember my mom buying it for me from Nordstrom and how special I felt! For some reason I never got rid of it, and I'm glad I didn't!

To the Max

Some people prefer fall fashion because it's the kick off to layering seasons. I'm all for the creative outlet that this offers, but I am-- and always will be-- a summer girl! And, what's more perfect for summer than light-weight dresses? Thanks to Mossimo at Targét, all prayers are answered! I've got my maxi dress and my plaid (you know it's been on my mind); now all I need is a Southside or Moscow Mule and I'm set! (;

Statuesque

Two of my friends from WA are visiting so we took a couple hours to walk around the National Mall. Per usj, swarms of people were also out and about (some local, some tourist). Among the black, white, and concrete buildings, there stood this giant mass. This is how I captured it.

What are your favorite art sculptures in DC?

Clutch Moments

You know how it is when you're running out of the door for a girls' night out or date night with your boo, and you need to swap out your workday tote for a small, chic clutch. Sometimes this seemingly simple task can be a nightmare. That's why I recommend always having a go-to prepared. One you know you can fit your gloss, keys, i.d., cash, cards, and don't forget...your phone!

This clutch let's me carry all of these necessities without distorting its structure. Don't worry! I've found some options for you so that you can have a smooth transition and fashionably fun night out, too! Check here, here, and here for great options at a great price.

Have a beautiful Saturday (and night)!

Last Minute Craze

Yesterday was a crazy day for me! I'm getting ready to leave on a 2 week vacay, and there is much to get done before I skip this country!

I started with a brief coffee date for a much needed catch up with a friend, and then off for my many errands. My over-the-knee boots gave my casual fit just the right amount of pizazz. What do you think?

Turquoise Obsession

I love turquoise. Obsessed really. Throughout the years, I have either found pieces that I've had to have, or had some lovely people gift them to me.

My mom recently got back from a trip to Cancun for a Matrix training. While she was there, she bartered with a local vendor to bring me back a fab turquoise beaded cuff. Of course I went gaga over it, and promptly added it to my collection.

Which piece is your fav?

oval | vendor at the Puyallup Fair

bracelets (starting closest to my hand)
beaded trio | Cookie Lee
leather bow | BCBG

Get the Look! Laura Dern Golden Globes [ deCODED ]

The Golden Globes may be my favorite of awards season. This year, gorgeous dresses and intricate suits with bowties flooded the red carpet. Some women opted for full skirts and low chest-lines, but even the sleekest fitting dresses-- like Laura Dern's grey Roberto Cavalli number-- caught my eye.

Most likely because I instantly thought: Ooh! I could wear that there or there or there!

Here's how you, too, can take Laura Dern's sultry sequined look and make it your own!

[ deCODEd ] Laura Dern Golden Globes 2014

The Dress
Find a dress that has the perfect tone for your skin and hair. Laura went with a warm grey, but you can go with any soft color that compliments you!

Aidan Mattox - Sequined V-back Mesh Gown in Champagne @ Nordstrom Online
The Belt
Your dress is sequined...let it shine! A smaller bandwidth with smooth texture will be just the right touch. Try your local craft and fabric store, such as Jo-Ann's, and DIY a satin sash.

If you want to go more glam, try a bow-detailed belt like the one below. Just be sure the tones match with the tones of your dress's detailing!

Kate Spade New York - Glitter Bow belt

What to look out for: Emma Watson's backless dress.

The Hollywood Starlet, famous for her role in the Harry Potter movie franchise, wowed at the Globes in Dior Couture. If anyone is going to start a trend, it will be Emma, and it will be from this look. We'll be sure to see our favorite trend stores like H&M incorporate their own version of this soon. Long backless cardigans perhaps? I'd wear that!

Shout out what your favorite Golden Globes look were in the comments below!
