July Outtakes

We love our country and celebrated the Grand Ol' Flag

July was a busy month. A busy month finding any way possible to be in the sun! We've probably told you a hundred and eight times how much we j'adore l'ete, but it just seems that we can't say it enough!

Take a moment and revisit our July styles. Then, in the comments below, let us know which looks were your favorite. (Seriously, we want to know!)

As wedding season ensues, so does the trend of the season. Check out Love, Now Trending
Looking back, it seems to me that we had a color trend going on. From weddings to water parks, it seems that we blogged a lot about the red and black outfits we happened to wear!

It goes to show you that certain colors do not need to be reserved for colder seasons or limit you to the indoors. In fact, if you're not frolicking in the sun or water, then you're missing out!

Water Follies embrace the fun of summer!

Some of you also follow our Facebook page (not yet? click the link to like + follow), so you've seen that we've indulged in summer concerts and poolside shenanigans. But that's not all. Inspiration has been flowing this summer. Take a look below at one of the new hair cuts dré styled on her mom, and click the link to see more angles.

What's your passion? dré tells you about her Personal Canvas here!
We were also all about nails this month! From Marchesa appliqués to finding replacements for discontinued favorites (see below), we shared some honest reviews. We're not done yet, though! Next month we've got some great news for all of you who have a love/hate relationship with glitter polish. Stay tuned!

Gasp! OPI discontinued Ate Berries in the Canaries! Did din find a worthy replacement?
Stayin' Breezy in the summer sun. This is how we do!
We're saying farewell to July, but not to summer! There's still time to DIY your own watermelon shorts! Check out the link below for a step by step guide on how you can rock your own pair for Labor Day weekend!

We don't particularly love soda, but sharing moments with friends.. we're all in!

Thank you for reading in July! We love sharing our style with you! Sharing is caring right? Be sure to introduce your friends to the world of drédin. And, remember, if you like a post be sure to let us know in the comments. We love hearing from our readers!

To the Max

Some people prefer fall fashion because it's the kick off to layering seasons. I'm all for the creative outlet that this offers, but I am-- and always will be-- a summer girl! And, what's more perfect for summer than light-weight dresses? Thanks to Mossimo at Targét, all prayers are answered! I've got my maxi dress and my plaid (you know it's been on my mind); now all I need is a Southside or Moscow Mule and I'm set! (;

Rose Gold

Have you ever walked into your beauty supply store to find that your favorite product has been discontinued? Indeed it's a sad sad day. Especially because had you known you would have stocked up!

Recently this happened to me with my fav OPI color, Ate Berries In The Canaries. What a BEAUTIFUL color that worked as a go to color all year 'round.

After a moment of reflection and a brief pity party/vent sesh to dré, I decided I had to choose one of my many other berry colored polishes to potentially take its place. Nothing can, I tell you, but I am finding a new found happiness with Koala Bear-y. The sweetest berry pink that is perfect for summer, and surely the impending fall season.

If you're one to stick to your reds, shake things up and give this a try! Its bright, sultry color will still make heads turn. Promise.

Water Follies

This weekend is Water Follies in Tri-Cities.  Yesterday I got into town in time to see the last few hours of the hydro races. That was my first time experiencing any kind of boat races and it was pretty awesome!

I kept my look casual cool for this hot day. What do you think?

A Piece Of The Island

Earlier this year, I took a trip with my family to Dominica. The day that we spent in Portsmouth, I found this gorgeous top in a little boutique. I love the colors, the fabric, the chain detail...all of it! My favorite part is having a piece of the island with me, and the memories that were made there come back to life when I look at it!

A Cooler Day

After a week of blazing temps of 106° and higher, it's hard to believe its in the 70's today! It's probably for the best though. Washington has been having some crazy fires that have spread throughout the eastern side of the state! I think some cooler temperatures and even the bit of rain we have had the past couple days are much needed. I'm sure the firefighters are appreciative as well!

Today's look is casual with a bit of edge. It's a perfect day for jeans and a tank top! My boots are keeping my feet dry from the soggy grass, and my vest gives a little extra flare. Like it?

Coca-Cola Red

code name: drédin

The Coca-Cola collection is one of OPI's latest sets of polish and we are loving it! Although there are several other the polishes that we fancy, you can never go wrong with a classic red. Not to mention, although it's far from healthy, Coke has got to be one of the most classic drinks of summer! It's tasty too ;)

My Personal Canvas

I love what I do. From time to time I think to myself, "If I didn't do hair, what would I do?"  I've yet to come up with an answer. I honestly feel like there would be a void in my life without it!

Now let me tell you, the best part of being an artist, is getting to create. It's so energizing to dream up ideas and play. I cannot think of anyone else that I've gotten to experiment with more than my mom. Remember when I chopped her hair off last year?

A couple days ago, she came to me with an idea for a new cut. The inspiration was too fabulous to not consider it! So we got together, and I placed her hair where I thought it would compliment her features best. It looked so fun just imagining it, that we decided it was a must!

Below is her transformation. What do you think?

Crown Jewels

A couple nights ago I did something experimental for me with my nails.

You know those nail appliqués that have been around for a few years now? Well I found some that caught my eye about 10 months ago, and had yet to use them! They looked beautiful in the packaging, but I had no idea how difficult they would be to apply, or how they would last.

Here's my verdict: They were pretty easy as far as application. As far as their longevity, I was not impressed. By the end of the next day they were already starting to peel off. I don't know if it is the brand, or the fact that I have my hands in water more often than most from styling hair.

All in all, I think I'll stick to a polished manicure, unless I have a particular event that I would want to wear them for. Still, they did turn out pretty. Don't you think?
