Winter Hue

Often the mindset for winter wardrobe is to go dark. But a summer bird like myself, I often like to find ways to break the mold. This beautiful Tahari coat and a colorful bird patterned button-down blouse are great against the backdrop of the snow, don't you think?

What do you wear to break the mold?

DIY Facial Scrub

I have discovered a DIY facial scrub that will leave your skin feeling like a baby's butt! It claims to be a blackhead removing scrub. Although I don't have a blackhead problem, my pores definitely get clogged at times.  After one try, I was hooked!

What you'll need:
1/2 Tbs | honey
1/2 tsp. | baking soda
1/2 tsp. | salt

Mix all three ingredients together in a small bowl. Apply to clean damp skin. Massage in a circular motion to exfoliate skin and then let it sit on your face as a mask for 5 min. When the time is up, dampen your hands with warm water, and lightly massage again as you rinse it off. Pat skin dry, and apply organic extra virgin coconut oil as a moisturizer.

Voilà! You're on your way to silky smooth skin!

Winter Wonder Plaid

If you've been paying attention to the news (or just stepping outside of your front door), you know that the arctic chill is still among us and freezing everything in it's path! Okay, that's a little stretch, but you get what I'm trying to say-- it's cold!

For some reason, my eye has been drawn to plaid these days. Now, even in my short walk to work, I daydream about long wool plaid skirts keeping me warm and cozy, and chic!

Here's a skirt from Topshop that I've been eyeing:

Topshop plaid tube skirt, here.

Bon chic, bon genre, no?

My Vignette

I've had a stir in me lately, to let my creativity and art flow. I wanted to capture a vintage feeling in the photos I took. Notice, the headpiece that is worn in some of the photos, is the same one that I made for the Black Swan photo shoot I did. Please enjoy my 1920's inspired shoot!

TGIF! I'm SO ready for the weekend! Here's some wardrobe inspiration that's perfect for it.

Weekend wear calls for something relaxed, and even a bit rough around the edges. These distressed boyfriend jeans with a button down are so easy. Add some heels and fun jewelry for the perfect splash of fancy!

Want to get a full pony like mine? When your hair is down, separate it into sections and back comb all of it. When you're done, use your fingers to smooth just the outside, back into your ponytail. Secure it with a hair-tie, and you've got a wild horse tail on your hands!

Cheers to 100, TVD!

In honor of the 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries, I decided to paint my nails in a vampy color: Vampersterdam by OPI.

I've been watching this show since its conception, and my obsession continues. This show, created by masterminds Kevin Williamson (Scream, Dawson's Creek) and Julie Plec (Kyle XY), started with a cast of talented and gorgeous "unknowns" and was an instant hit. Since first airing in 2009, it has maintained momentum holding the #1 spot as CW's highest rated show (and has duked it out with time-slot competitors on ABC and CBS-- and won). In fact, 5 seasons later, millions of viewers still tune in every Thursday to see what new diabolical plot will unfold.

With a global fanbase known as the #TVDFamily, this show has also had a media take over. There have been many times the fans have rallied together to win the show numerous viewer's choice awards. Among the most notable was the write-in ballot that won lead actress Nina Dobrev the People's Choice Award for Favorite TV Drama Actress. Needless to say, if you're trying to break into the biz, this is the show you want to be on. Cameos have helped propel careers for actors and musicians alike. It even created a successful spin-off, 'The Originals', for one of its most hate-to-love characters. The writers, cast, and crew should be applauded-- loudly.

Even though I've moved on from recapping episodes for former site and hoarding my Twitter timeline with cast updates and plot theories, I still consider myself obsessed because I just.can't.get.enough.

Cheers to 100, Show. It's been a pleasure being a part of the TVDFamily, and I'm excited to see what's next!

Turquoise Obsession

I love turquoise. Obsessed really. Throughout the years, I have either found pieces that I've had to have, or had some lovely people gift them to me.

My mom recently got back from a trip to Cancun for a Matrix training. While she was there, she bartered with a local vendor to bring me back a fab turquoise beaded cuff. Of course I went gaga over it, and promptly added it to my collection.

Which piece is your fav?

Monday Cheer

Happy Monday! I'm not usually a Monday person, but when a Seahawks fan finds out her team is going to the SUPER BOWL, the high carries over to the next day!

So now that you know I'm happy, let me tell you about my outfit:) I chose my faux leather pants, moto boots, and striped blazer for some edge, and added a flowy high-low top for a touch of feminine. Do you like it?

While I was in WA, I visited Sharon's Hair Studio in Yakima. I needed Sharon's special touch to add a little umph to my natural curls. And by umph, I mean triumph because it was becoming increasingly aware to me that managing my natural curl was causing too much headache. [ And despite Excedrin's great qualities, it wouldn't fix this. ] I am definitely pleased with the turnout and, now, actually look forward to seeing what my hair wants to do in the morning!

Of course, I had to have dré get in on the action, so she styled after the perm rods came out. [ If you're an 80s baby like me, then you probably know why I was holding my breath. ]

Soon, sleep deprivation started kicking in and the crazy started coming out. Hence the pics I snapped being goofy. The flash really lightened my hair. I've been wanting to get to a blonde, but it's a gradual process.

I really like it, though. Let me know in the comments below what hair color you'd suggest!
