December Outtakes...Ciao 2014!

As the world focuses its eye and goals to 2015, I'm taking one more look back on our year of blogging. Take a journey with me as I revisit 8 of my favorite posts. (Of course there were so many that I loved, but considering the time it takes to get glittered up for NYE festivities, I narrowed!)

The year started off with a cover story featuring Joan Smalls. I was thrilled to feature Joan not only because she's gorgeous, but because of her resilience to rise to where she is today. Although Joan is no longer holding the #1 spot, she's still as present in the industry as ever. Read more.

Now, I can't talk about the #1 spot without mentioning the back-to-back NFC Champions! Earlier in the year we showed the 12th woman how to get game-ready, and then we cheered our Hawks to a Superbowl victory! Working in the nation's capital, I crave the west coast. So, if you're like me and missing home-field advantage, then revisit the post for style tips + music video to get you pumped.

If there's one thing you would have gathered this year, it's that we love the sun. Even home-field advantage couldn't tamper with our incessant craving for warm weather. Especially if that craving meant going all the way to Dominica to satisfy--which dré did in March! Read more.

That wasn't the only major move dré did this year. Can we talk about the many hair transformations? Just take a look at the chop that happened in May below. She straight up said, "Cut My Hair Don't Care", and it was one of the best looks all year! Revisit dré's hair journey here.

One thing that I loved this year was playing with light. If you look back through our posts, you can see how our various discoveries of radiance transformed our images and overall post themes. One of these was "Georgetown" (above). Rediscover this look in historic Georgetown here.

Speaking of light, I found it again in "Love, Now Trending". This look was created for my two friends' wedding reception in July. The theme was garden party, and I couldn't resist adding this flirty back-slit top to my ensemble. Love was definitely in the air; catch it again here.

Oh, and remember that time when dré made VOGUE.COM? Yah, that happened a few times this year, too. It was crazy and so much fun! Relive the backstage moments here.

And to round it out, one of my favorite reds of all-time was found this year! Such a classic that I hope OPI never lets it go! Although I'm not a soda drinker, I must say that sharing this beautiful lacquer with your bff is worth popping a bottle for! Cheers to my favorite red again here.

These were my favorite 8 of 2014. Now let's take a look at what your top 3* were this year:

1. Marita
2. Cut My Hair Don't Care
3. My Personal Canvas

Sparkle

I plan on busting out every ounce of sparkle I have this NYE! So far, I found this fab dress and pair of heels at a local boutique. All that's left is figuring out what polish I'm wearing and my hair and makeup. No big deal...right?

Will you be glitzing it up tomorrow night or keeping it simple? Let us know in the comments below!

Younique

Happy Monday fashionistas! New Year's Eve is in just 2 days, and I have the perfect accessories for your eyes ~ eyelashes sure to knock anyone out that's within a 5 foot radius of you! J/k...but not really ;-)

My brother-in-law gave me the serious hookup for Christmas with the most amazing 3D fiber lashes. You start by applying a transplanting gel. Before that has a chance to dry, you swipe the tips of your lashes with the 3D fiber, and then finish by adding one more coat of the gel.

Here in my before and after photo, I'm wearing 2 coats of the 3D fiber. You can go back and forth between the gel and fiber until you've achieved your desired look. I'm not sure this photo does justice to just how long these bad boys are, but I hope it gives you an idea!

Fratelli

Greetings from Canada! It's been so long since my last post. Between moving, working, and getting ready for Christmas, I've barely been able to sit for 5 minutes.

I traveled up Vancouver, B.C. with my family, to spend Christmas with my in-laws. It's been a perfect getaway from the hecticness of everyday life. Plus there's the added bonus that my sister-in-law is a fabulous cook!

Today we headed to Commercial St. per my request, for pastries from my favorite Italian bakery in Vancouver, Fratelli. Although Vancouver shares the similar gloom and drizzle of Seattle, my emotions were soaring high with all my treats.

A New Decade

code name: drédin
code name: drédin
code name: drédin

It's been two weeks since I hit the big 3-0 (and since our last post!), and I can tell you this new decade is feeling pretty good. I may have mentioned before that I'm not one of those girls that was sad to turn 30. After 3 decades of getting to know myself and fine tune, what's to be sad about? Finally, I feel completely confident in who I am.

And excited for what's to come!

So grateful for all of the celebratory gestures from my friends and family-- thank you! And, of course, opportunities to get glam. For this look, I wore a skirt that was gifted to me by my grandmother. She gave it to me a few months ago, but due to an illness I'm recovering from, I wasn't able to wear it. So glad I got to wear it on my big day because it paired perfect with my faux fur ($20 steal from Targét!) and Stuart Weitzman pumps.

I'm looking forward to seeing how my style evolves, if at all. Especially since no one seemed to believe me that I was reaching 30 anyhow. Good genes. Thanks Mom + Dad!

Sitting with a grateful heart.

Pit Stops and Victory Laps

Last week I was in Indianapolis for a conference. Lord have mercy, it was so cold! Truly I do not know how people live there! Fortunately, I had just snagged this awesome Betsy Johnson coat-- water resistant, deep pockets, and a hood. Besides being too cute with all of its details, it kept me warm as my cohort and I walked around downtown after dinner.

The pictures aren't so clear-- I don't think my iPhone was ready for a night shoot!-- nonetheless, wanting to share this festive downtown Indy display and the coat that graced the sidewalks. What do you think?

If you read our last post, or follow us on Facebook, you noticed that it was my 30th birthday (!!) on Monday. On Saturday, while my friend and colleague waited for our flight home, we had lunch at Steak N' Shakes. I haven't been to this restaurant in years! I remember going once when my family was driving to/through the midwest and my sister and I just loved it! So, when I saw Indy had one, I had to stop! Not only is the restaurant celebrating their 80th (with a birthday milkshake and all!), one of the waitresses was celebrating a birthday, too. They scooted her to middle of the restaurant and the singing began. Next thing I know, my friend says to them, "it's her birthday, too."

Long story short, check out this video* of the Downtown Indianapolis Steak N' Shakes staff and patrons wishing me Happy Birthday. Definitely had a girl smilin'!

Thirty

Happy Birthday to... me! Today is my 30th birthday and I'm excited! Nope; I am definitely not one of those women who like to conceal their age. After all, with age comes wisdom and I'm all about that!

In fact, this morning after a beautiful rendition of "Happy Birthday" from my dad (get this man a record deal!), I wisely decided to enjoy Nutella on my toast. Truth be told, it's not the first time I've made a wise decision to have Nutella, so this just shows that I'm retaining knowledge.

Yesterday, however, might have been a more well rounded course as I enjoyed brunch with a few friends at Lavagna in Capitol Hill. The menu is farm to table and delicious. I had Eggs Florentine (their take on Eggs Benedict) with a side of bacon (not my fav in the way it was prepared) and two Americanos (necessary!). To top it off, my friends sang Happy Birthday to me before I blew out a candle on a melt-in-your-mouth delicious Tiramisu cake!

Brunch was perfect because I was surrounded by great company to fellowship, delicious food to eat, and this fabulous blanket poncho to keep me warm. This poncho was made especially for me by my best friend, dré. About a month ago dré confirmed with me which fabric I would like, then she spent an afternoon creating the garment. Upon arriving home on Saturday from Indianapolis, I saw the package at my doorstep. I had already planned to wear it for my brunch, so the timing was perfect. Thank you, dré, for such a thoughtful gift! The time and detail that went into it has not gone unnoticed! (Really, though, I've received so many compliments!) Thanks, boo!

Today is also our blogiversary! Check out our official launch here. Then, visit our Facebook page for more birthday celebration updates!

What do you think of my blanket poncho?

Leopard

This weekend I got to celebrate my fabulous friends birthday. I don't know if anything gets me quite as excited as getting fancy with my friends!

The birthday girl was beyond glam and I didn't want to disgrace her, so I made effort to put my best foot forward. While I was in Cali this summer, I picked up a new pack of lip tattoos at Sugar Factory, this time in leopard print. I think they were so fun with my leopard print dress. My girl, Ginger got her dress from a local boutique, and she better keep watch over her closet because it's about to go missing!! Aren't we fancy!? Happy birthday Ginger!!

My Tree

My family is on the move yet again. Not too far, just across town. It's a temporary relocation while my husband gets the home ready to sell for the current owners.

The house is basically empty still, but we did put our tree up. I love all of our ornaments, and each year we add more to our collection. Between my ballerina days and the ballerinas I'm currently raising, we have lots of nutcracker and tutu ornaments! But must share a few of my fashionable ones :)

This sparkly Eiffel Tower is part of my collection because Paris is always a good idea. Not to mention, it reminds me of my dream of going to Paris someday (PFW din?! Fingers crossed!). Then I have this fierce zebra print bootie because heels are the answer to every question! And finally, I wanted to share this fab retro Barbie ornament I've had since I was a little girl. I mean is there really anyone more fashionable than Barbie? Girl has an outfit for EVERY occasion!

November Outtakes

above | (din) code: "gratitude" and (dré) eShakti

Ciao, November! At this moment, there are two things running through our minds:

For din, "Cus the players gonna play, play, play, play, play and the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate....shake it off! Shake it off!"  This weekend of giving thanks was spent with an adorable little girl named Ava. If there was ever a pout on the 3 yr old's face, we shook it off with Taylor Swift's new album. After all, there's no pouting during #weekendwithauntiedindin; that's Wrinkle 101! (Today marked 8 days til din's 30th, so that's wisdom talking.)

Now, for dré, packing (yup, another move!) and tomorrow's meeting for an upcoming collaboration (more details to come!) occupy the mind. Thank goodness the weather from the Pass (snow..what?!) stayed put. Let's keep the cold to Cabin 28 as much as possible, shall we? Unless of course you used "codedredin10" to get yourself fabulous new outerwear. In that case, scooting from new home to fashion industry meetings looking chic is encouraged!

Men, looking for some encouragement as well? Don't look further than din's post on blogger sensation IAMGALLA (then visit past posts for inspiration here and here). We all need a little inspo For The Holidays, don't we? Speaking of inspo, did you know that "the buzz" is run by a stat counter to highlight the highest three posts? Did your favorite make "the buzz" this month?

Drea

Hi my lovelies! I hope everyone had a fab Thanksgiving! I know I did, and as my husband and I enjoy doing on our weekends, we ate to the point of "stupor status". You know the feeling...the moment right after you've finished stuffing yourself with comfort food, and it's all you can do to get to the nearest couch and cozy up in a big blanket and fall asleep...yeah, that. **Not to mention that I was awake until 4:30AM the night before, baking cake, and cheesecake, and pie, oh my!**

Now jumping to my outfit. I can't get enough of of these pants! And you can imagine my excitement when I realized the style of this pant is called the "Drea"! They really were made for me. Do you like them?
