Cover Story | June 2014

I can't say enough about this Untamed Heart. And yet, to even attempt to process words to follow such striking photos seems futile. I've been so excited for this movie since I learned of its conception last year. Mostly because it stars one of my favorite actresses, Angelina Jolie. Favorite actress to star as Disney's best-loved villain, Maleficent? Makes sense.

Maleficent opened nationwide on Friday. Prior to its opening I read Elle's article on Angelina. (Yes, I will refer to her as Angelina. Just as I would if I was sipping tea in her kitchen.) In fact, the minute I pulled the magazine out from my mailbox and saw her on the cover, I knew I had to revamp the cover story articles! This article shares details of her costume, the filming process, and that three of her children play a part in the film, so it was fun to catch these moments on Saturday when I saw the movie with Chrystalain, my blogtographer and friend.
(Hint: Look out for Vivenne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, Angelina's five year old, playing young Princess Aurora!)

"I've never worked with anybody, in all my years, who has such a complete picture of what it is to be a movie actor and a movie star," said producer Joe Roth. I can imagine this to be so as the UNHCR ambassador and global philanthropist is both uniquely and acutely aware of
what it means to be all in.

The movie is a must see. The cinematography and visual effects alone had me captivated. Really, about fifteen or so minutes into the film I remember thinking how light on dialogue the script was. Perhaps it was so visually appealing that I didn't pay attention. It's not the traditional story, but I feel I prefer this perspective a lot more. Angelina, without a doubt, was deliciously maleficent.

The article was as much about the Disney fairytale as it was Angelina's next directorial project, Unbroken, which is slated to open Christmas 2014. She's pushing herself to the limits with this Hollywood blockbuster. An epic war film based on the life of Louis Zamperini, who just so happens to be her neighbor in California. As an A-list actress turned epic war film director, Angelina has maneuvered her career into a newly created realm for Hollywood heavy hitters.

Perhaps it's unfair to say "it's unfair" that Angelina has it all--impeccable beauty, immeasurable drive, and selfless humility. So, I'll say this: all of it is inspirational. And as for her continued success?
Boy, is it going to be fun to watch!

Cover Story | February 2014

There's something to say about a nearly 20-year old model whose striking disposition lands her as the face of Prada. There's even more to say when that particular model, 10 years later, hasn't let it get to her head.

This month's cover story feature is Polish-born, Canadian-raised top model Daria Werbowy. In her brief interview with Harper's Bazaar, Daria appears to be everything but the drama. And, as she's 30 now, that's something us girls in our late 20s can look up to!

Harper's Bazaar February 2014 (subscriber cover)

"I can do and say whatever I want now-- because I'm 30.
There was a lot of surrendering."

Traditionally when words like these are spoken, it is a result of or prelude to rebellious nature. But not with Daria. She's most noted for being laid back and worldly (she's famous for sailing across the Atlantic, and currently living in Ireland). Her Instagram is proof.

Still, models.com ranks her #6 for a reason. She's driven. Among her Prada prestige, she's captured the attention of leading houses such as Lancôme, Céline, and Ferragamo. Now, these cemented partnerships have afforded her to do it her way. Daria blocks her work schedule so that she has months at a time off to travel and just live.

I think we can all take note that a little more time for self is important. Whether it's actually taking the allotted vacation time, or taking weekend trips with friends, we can keep that "work hard, play hard" attitude. This is especially important for my fellow workaholic Americans!

Daria's got a relate-able look and an inspiring lifestyle. What are your thoughts on this month's cover story?

Cover Story | October 2013

The Talking II by Melissa, 2011

Que Linda!

Is October seriously here? Yes! And the first of the month equals one thing-- a cover story! Who graced the cover on your favorite go-to fashion magazine? Well, if you picked up a Harper's Bazaar from your mailbox you saw that model icon Linda Evangelista graced the black, white, and red cover.

"We don't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day."

The interview with Linda (proud author of the quote above!) begins on the topic of social media. We all know that whatever is read on the internet is true, however, Linda believes otherwise. So, she says she might combat the rumors and all the hype by starting up a blog.

Dear Linda, please do! Both dré and I will hit that follow button so fast-- Bloglovin', Blogspot, whatever! Especially since the icon is becoming more Olsen twin savvy. She even considers The Row a go-to label now. Could you imagine all of the fashion that will explode from a supermodel's web log? Oops, there goes that S-word. This passionate lover of fashion is truly old-school when it comes to her craft and collaborating with other artists, supermodel or not.

"You can call me whatever you want to call me. All I know is this: I'm still here."

Precisely. Linda Forever.
