Mani Monday | Flowerista

I love Spring because it's the time of year when my favorite flower—the tulip—blooms. Essie's 2015 Spring collection, designed by Rebecca Minkoff, is definitely reminiscent of a flower garden: pretty!

Today I'm wearing 'Flowerista'. This shade goes quite well with my polish collection as it's in the same color family I always grab!! It was a gift (party favor?)  from dré during our trip to NY last month.

It also is the exact shade of my purple suede Jessica Simpson heels and my Stila lip gloss—score! In the pictures above, you can see how the color changes depending on lighting (natural/sun or low-light/shadow).

Although I love the color, I had a heck of a time with the application! Its consistency is really thick which is completely opposite to how I normally find Essie polishes which require several coats. Therefore the process was thick brush strokes that needed extra care smoothing out. Now, I'm not sure if this is just my bottle so, if not, be forewarned that it won't be an in/out process. In other words, if you're running to an event and need a quick paint job, choose another color.

I will add some polish thinner (or non-acetone remover) and see how the next application goes. It might've been a struggle, but this color is too pretty not to wear again!

Mani Monday | OPI Push & Pur-pull

For New Years, I chose Push & Pur-Pull from OPI's neon collection. Normally I do my own manicures, but I'd been busy and the salon was having a sale. Per my usual experience, I walked away thinking: I could've done that better; but at least I had a chance to be pampered, right?

The color is actually gorgeous. Not so neon, but after a few coats and a top coat, it had a really nice sheen. Now, I say "a few" because it streaked when applied. Although the nail technician's brush stroke wasn't the most concise, I could still tell it wasn't the easiest color to work with. In fact, it reminded me of Essie polish which often streaks for me. (I know this is not everyone's experience.)

I plan to try this color again; self-application, of course. I'll let you know how it goes!
