I've crossed the pass six times to see family and spend time with dré. I'm not gonna lie, it's been exhausting. I realize sometimes I have to give extra energy to see the people I love, but when you live on the other side of the country, and only have a few short weeks to reconnect, it's well worth it. Sometimes all it takes is a little reminder to pause, smile, and lookout.

Not gonna lie. I love this outfit. I first fell in love with the faux leather skirt and knew it was going to become a staple in my wardrobe. Pairing it with this-- dare I say Etro-esq-- sleeveless blouse was a bonus. The details on this blouse are fantastic. The spiked buttons you see (closer version here) synch the lower back as well. And, what better way to show you care than by adding a compliment-- in the shape of a rhinestone collar!

I just love that feeling of putting something on that transforms the way you feel and move. Needless to say, you'll be seeing me style these pieces in several different ways in the near future. So, what's in your wardrobe that leaves you enchanted?

Seattle Times

I'm not kidding you when I tell you that the lack of sunshine in Seattle was a huge factor as to why I moved. Last summer in DC was absolutely steaming hot-- and I loved it! I wouldn't doubt it if I was the only one who didn't complain.

But look! This summer is a completely different story! I beg, I plead! Where is the sun!? 

Much to my dismay it's in WA. Do me a favor, dears, please return it back to me! Anoraks, umbrellas, and high heels to fend off the rain and puddles is not what I waited through a cold winter for. (Oh, and please hurry!)

Rendezvous + NYC

Today's the day! Dré and I are on our way to rendezvous in NYC! 

This is our first "getaway" trip together and although we've only shared with you a couple times about it (here + here), we are ecstatic! In fact, we could barely contain ourselves as we said goodbye over the phone when Dré was boarding her flight-- from Gate8 I'll have you know! And, isn't it just perfect that she's coming in her 8 shirt for her first visit to the city?

As for me, I'm driving up on a coach for the 4hr trip. My shoes + wardrobe are safely-- I hope!-- stored underneath. I plan to catch some zzz's, do some work, and maybe catch a few more zzz's. Hey, I've been working weeks on end. A girl needs her beauty sleep (;

Lost in [ DC ]

Well I'll be...

2 years? Already? It's really hard to believe, but the 8th is a day that's hard to forget!

In January of 2011, I was coming towards a transition in life-- both social and in my job. Then, one day in early January I was speaking with one of my favorite cousins who lives in VA and she said: "Why don't you come out here?" It took me all of 2.5 seconds to assess the possibility and give my reply: "OK!"
