Inspired

It is a winter wonderland outside! I've enjoyed watching it from inside as I cherish the company of my girlfriends. Every month we get together to collaborate, motivate and, of course, inspire. We connect over our multiracial heritage, careers in independent education, and our love for expressing our creative outlets!

For brunch, I wore this tassled cardigan from Urban Outfitters. I love the print and color palette. Especially because it goes so well with black! (Smile.)

Underneath It All

Yesterday I shared with you my fav winter coat, and this is what was going on underneath my massive parka! Strangely enough, the weather was very cooperative and pleasant earlier in the day. Then, by evening the winds picked up and the snow blew in! Did I mention I looooove my parka?!

Orange Is the New Black

Spring is the newest season and orange is the new black. For today at least! Surely I'll be back to onyx, but in the meantime I'm gonna play tag with the bumble bees.

I paired this zip front, pleated-bodice dress with a long cardigan (which I love!). This lightweight cardigan has 3/4 sleeves making it perfect for this warming weather. What's more? Check out this cuff! I spent some time in DC's Eastern Market this weekend and picked up this aqua-green leather cuff. You know my love for leather cuffs, especially when they're by local designers! I finished the look with soft makeup and big hair.

What do you think?

2 weeks...

I can't believe the time is almost here for me to head back to the west coast. Or as some might say-- the best coast. I definitely am in need of a touch base, and as the days near my flight departure I realize more desperately so.

So, what's the line up? In the first three days I'll be attending a concert with my sister, the nutcracker and a Christmas party with dré. Whew! It's gonna be a jet set weekend! What's this mean? I need to have outfits that are both fun and easy. Here are a few options that I'm using for inspiration-- what do you think?

Leather
Oversize Collar Shearling Jacket
leather cuff from Lilac Bijoux

Leather And Lace

Leather is so hot this fall! That's why I was swooning over this dress when I saw it! While the leather gives it edge, the lace gives it the perfect feminine touch. I styled it with a bomber jacket and boots to really keep it toward the edgy side. Do you like it?

Well, It's Official...

You know that look some folks give you when you wear white after Labor Day? Well, that's the look I'm giving deep down inside when I see or hear people trying to rush my beloved summer. Today's the day, though, that I have to embrace all the boot talk and chilled breezes. After all, it's the first day of fall.

Earlier I mentioned that this was the first year that I am actually looking forward to allowing fall layers to overwhelm my wardrobe. Here are a few key fall staples to look out for this season as you peruse your favorite shops, latte in hand.

1) Be bold with your lip color:

2) A scarf will give you infinite possibilities:

3) Find a jacket that provides enough conversation as it does warmth:

4) Remember, leather pulls everything together:

5) Try on my go to bootie for size:

Stay warm and check back for more fall wardrobe inspirations!

Roaming The Streets

Vancouver, B.C. is such a beautiful city! So with all of the hectic ness, I've tried to make it a point to get out and see the sights ( and get a little shopping in too! )!!

I made sure to snap a photo of the venue for Vancouver Fashion Week, for all of you to see! It's right in the heart of Chinatown, which I thoroughly enjoyed exploring yesterday! I then walked from there to the downtown area, for a little shopping trip to Zara. It's a good thing I was wearing these extremely comfy boots I recently bought at Nordstrom, because let me tell you, I really did some walking!

I then took a stroll down Burrard St., lined with Louis Vuitton and the likes. It's always fun to see the fashion worn by people in other cities! And finally, thank goodness for international Starbucks! It's really kept me going!!

Well, I'm off to get ready for the shows I'm walking in tonight! Stay tuned!

[ On the Run ]

It's been so go go go for me these days! Here's a few things that are keeping me going:

1) Tunes! Soooo, I just found out about Ariana Grande-- Disney Queen, but very talented!
2) Coffee! Let's be honest. One could not do life without it.
3) Friends! I've started a few groups (Fellowship Cafe & Friday Night Lights) at my church and I'm looking forward to meeting new people!

I'll be sure to update you on my upcoming events and the fashion that comes with it soon. What's keeping you going these days?

Cinched In

Belts are a beautiful thing. Not only can they be a great accessory to an outfit, but they can also create a waistline for you, or accentuate the one you already have.

I had been keeping my eye out for quite some time for a new belt. And I had particularly been fond of the idea of a wrap belt (I had seen someone wearing one years ago that I fell in love with). So you can imagine my excitement when I found this lone standing beauty at a boutique called Think Closet in SoHo! It's black, leather, has a fabulous print, AND cinches my waist in..... just how I like it ;)
